Laine
At 19, Reni Laine has released a full-length CD, American
Baby, been featured in Nylon Magazine, blogged on Gawker and
The Ivy Gate, and toured in Europe - all while attending
Columbia University. Reni has even been featured singing and
performing her own song "American Baby" in promos for "THE
FIRST LADIES OF MTV/Virgin Mobile" campaign on MTV.
While helping raise and cure her sister of autism and
struggling through her parents’ divorce at the age of 13,
Reni found solace in her piano. Initially inspired by the
romance of Debussy and Chopin, she fell in love with the
rock of U2, Tori Amos, and Radiohead.
Her debut CD American Baby is available on her website and
through the iTunes music store worldwide. In summer 2007,
she’s writing and recording her 2008 follow up, returning to
Europe for short tour, and finishing a record with the funky
East Village hybrid The Rabbit with partner/producer David
Pattillo and singer-songwriter whiz David Poe. |

Dan McCarthy
Tucksy is a New
York-based genre-bending jazz band that focuses on the
original writing of band-leader Dan McCarthy, as well as
cover songs from well-known rock and pop bands.
Conceptually, the band strives to create music that
breaks the rules of jazz by blending bluegrass, rock,
and country with a post-modern jazz aesthetic, and by
fusing the grooves of hip-hop and funk music with the
improvisational approach of jazz. Most importantly, the
band focuses on melody and song-structure and creates
music that appeals to a broad spectrum of listeners. Oh,
and let it be known that this band is led by the
combination of banjo and vibraphone; a first in the jazz
world…. and bluegrass world… and country world… and rock
world… But don't let the novelty fool you, as the
pedigree of the players and the quality of the
musicianship is apparent from the first note.

the mallet instrument..."

"Now at 21, there is a
remarkably mature soul in her youth. Her songs of love
and loss are sung with the conviction of someone twice
her age. And there's a bravery to how she lets her
feelings spill from the stage that many performers
cannot muster. A word of warning to anyone in the room,
she will melt your heart."

Gena McGuire
Lyrical / Other /
Progressive
Gena McGuire
was born in
New Haven Connecticut, the youngest child of a very
large and eclectic family. Her mother was a jazz singer and
Brooklyn native, while her father was a theologian and
philosopher whom also took part in the daily grind of
corporate America. The combination gave her a foundation of
spirituality, sophistication and pure love of music. At the
age of six Gena began playing the piano. She studied
Classical all throughout her high school and early college
years. She wanted desperately to write her own music and in
her Junior year switched to Jazz. Eventually she decided to
take the plunge and move to
Manhattan to pursue her dream. With no room for a
piano she began experimenting with different vocal styles
from jazz to blues and hip hop, slamming lyrical poetry and
singing freestyle. Finally she found room for a piano, and
the merger of the sights, stories, and sounds of the city
came together into what is the very unique and special sound
of Gena McGuire. |

South-of-Market districts and a strong following of young
